The red remembrance poppy is an emblem of Remembrance Day. You may fold this origami poppy and wear it as a poppy pin.
Use approximately a 4-inch (10 cm) square of 2-colour paper, starting with red side down in order to get red petals. The other side of paper (black in our case) will be visible in the centre of the poppy.

Turn the paper over by red side up. Valley fold the square in half from side to side. Press the fold flat and unfold it. Repeat in another direction.   Bring the sides together and down towards you. Press the paper down neatly, thereby making a shape that, in origami, is called the preliminary fold.   Working with all the layers, valley fold the right-hand upper sloping edge over, so that the top point touches the middle point of the left-hand upper edge, as shown.
