Oriland Workshops and Demonstration
X International Convention of Asociación Española de Papiroflexia (A.E.P.) and 25th A.E.P. Anniversary, El Escorial, Spain, April 28 – May 1, 2007
We met the first visitors of the exhibition and were glad to see expressively exciting reaction of Spanish people, both adults and children, to our work. Meanwhile, we had some time to see around the city, visit the Monastery site with gardens and enjoy the spectacular views of the mountains. Origami people were arriving to El Escorial from all over the world and from Spain of course, so the convention was about to begin.
The registration of attendees was at the height. We made the acquaintance of many Spanish folders and also met some familiar Origami persons we met before on other origami events, including a Dutch pair Janneke and Pieter Wielinga, as well as our fellows - special guests: Fritz Junior Jacquet, a French origami artist; a renowned origamist Paul Jackson and Miri Golan from Israel Origami Center.
At the first day of the convention, there was an inauguration of the exhibitions of Oriland and Papiroflexia in Casa de Cultura. The official of the city (at the left) gave a speech, welcoming the convention participants and emphasizing the importance of the exhibitions of Oriland and Papiroflexia to cultural life of the city. He also presented the city symbol to the president of A.E.P., Juan Pablo Cruz (at the right) and all convention participants were given a souvenir of El Escorial, an album of the sights of the city, which was very nice.
After that there was a reception with some wine and refreshments. The exhibitions were crowded with visitors, among which were convention participants, citizens and tourists.
