Oriland Authors, Yuri and Katrin Shumakov, were invited as special guests to X International Convention of Asociación Española de Papiroflexia (A.E.P.) and 25th A.E.P. Anniversary, in El Escorial, Spain, in April – May 2007. El Escorial is a town 45 kilometres northwest of Madrid and famous by the Royal Monastery of San Lorenzo de El Escorial, which is an immense palace, Augustinian monastery, museum, and library complex, built in 1563–67 for Philip II. The convention was celebrated from April 28th to May 1st at “Casa de Ejercicios de San José de El Escorial” (10 minutes from "Monasterio de El Escorial") and it was organized by the A.E.P.'s Madrid group.

We came to Spain a few days before the convention, and were warmly met by Juan Pablo Cruz, presidente de la A.E.P., and Alejandro Allanegui, a papiroflexia enthusiast from the very beginning of A.E.P. We arrived to El Escorial, the place of the convention and the exhibition.

At once we were fascinated by beauty of this mountain town and by its fairy-delicious air, which was so liquid and delivered all shades of fragrance of fresh greens and blooms. We came to the uptown, called San Lorenzo de El Escorial, where we visited the exhibition place at Casa de Cultura, located in the Royal Monastery complex.

The Exposition of Papiroflexia by A.E.P. was already set up to this time, so we started to mount the Oriland exhibition. The exhibition hall for Oriland was a very nice large space (7 x 14 meters) with a good lighting. Its windows looked just right to the Monastery. Juan Pablo and Alejandro helped a lot with building a big podium (4 x 4 meters) for Oriland kingdom and finding good tall supports for Oribana compositions.

So after a couple of days of hard working, the Oriland exhibition was installed and included the Oriland kingdom ‘La Magic’ on a big podium (4 x 4 meters) in the center, Oribana compositions on 12 tall stands, plus greeting cards display. There was a good pass for public to go around the kingdom and wide spaces to watch Oribana. The exhibition titled 'Oriland. Un mundo de papiroflexia.' (Oriland. A world of paperfolding.) was ready for wide audience. At the same day, there was an article at “El Telegrafo” newspaper, which told about the A.E.P. convention and exhibitions of Oriland and Papiroflexia.
