The Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT) is located in the very center of New York City and is just in a few blocks from Madison Square Garden and Times Square.
The only pity that OrigamiUSA not took a full advantage of such a central location: they did not arrange any signs or ads outside the FIT buildings about such a unique exhibition. So this was attended by only convention participants (good that they were in a great number of +700), their friends and relatives and maybe quite a few occasional visitors. |
The entire exhibition presented a vast variety of origami designs and was a true feast for origami lovers. The featured origami-artists were from America, Europe and Asia, including a big delegation from Japan. While mostly each display was presented on a half of a table, Oriland exposition was spread out on five tables along the whole wall of the exhibition room. So, all in all, Oriland display took about 10 meters long showing many new designs. |

The Oriland presentation was all new, never shown in the USA before. It started with a newly developed Paper Sea Adventure part, featuring Treasure Island, Sailing Ships, fishes and undersea area. This part of the display was certainly connected with a just released Oriland CD – “Origami Sailing: Paper Sea Adventure” and gave a fine opportunity to origami community to see many designs from this CD. |
The Oriland display also included Oribana arrangements and Greetings Cards section. Again this part of the display was shown in the USA for first time and also was attractive for many paperfolders. The featured Oribana compositions were from ‘Oribana Charm’ and ‘Oribana Beauty’ collections and exposed such flowers as Roses, Molucella, Campanula "Cup & Saucer", Trillium, Tigridia, Kniphofia, Daisy and more. |
