People, Who Do Origami

There is a good analogy to musical art. You see each piece of music has an author - composer, who has created it. This product can be written down in musical notation, and then other musicians, who did not create this product, can perform it. Each composer is the musician, but not each musician is the composer.

In origami, as well as in any art, each product (paper model) has an author (origami creator). The folding of the origami model can be reflected in diagrams, similarly to musical notation. And then this product (origami model) can be performed (folded) by other people (folders), who did not create this model. Each origami creator is the folder, but not each folder is the origami creator.

When a musician performs music at a concert or other event, it’s accepted to specify the author of the musical product. If a folder participates in an exhibition and shows origami models, also it’s necessary to specify the author, whose models were reproduced.

The people, who fold paper, have also other names such as a paperfolder, origamist and others. The authors of origami are named as origami artists, creators or origami designers. The modern authors of origami are not only artists and professional designers, but also mathematics, linguists, psychologists, doctors, teachers, professors, students, adults and children. For various reasons, there are models, whose authors are not known, among them there are many traditional models.

There is one more interesting area in origami: diagramming the models. For this purpose, it is necessary to have a special talent. Sometimes such people are named diagrammers. The diagrams can be drawn by hand and with the help of the computer. It is not enough to be able to draw the diagrams beautifully, also there is an important concept - algorithm of folding. The same model can be folded in different ways with the identical result. It is necessary to think over the most convenient algorithm of folding and then even the most complex and difficult model can be made easily. It is very good, when the diagrams are beautiful and clear as well.

Also it is important to tell about the teachers of origami. To teach origami it is necessary to have many talents. As minimum, is necessary to be a good paper folder, be a good teacher and to have artistic abilities, because the teaching of origami is like a show. Sometimes origami is used by experts in the field of psychology, medicine and education, as an assistant method. But it happens rarely, as it requires multiple talents: the person should be an expert in own area, and also a good origami teacher that means a good paper folder and a good teacher with artistic abilities.

You could find your talent in origami. Either you are good performers, diagrammers, teachers, creators, artists, or you can unite all or some of them together.

Undoubtedly, all who do origami are creative people. And certainly the majority of them are children, even if they are already adults by age, their souls are young. In origami, there is one very interesting feature that allows quick development of creative abilities… well, this will be elucidated in the following lectures.
