The kusudama consists of six modules. During the construction of the Kusadama module, you’ll be passing through several simple origami bases such as the book fold, the cupboard fold and windmill base. Use 6 squares of paper, identical in size. You will also need paper glue.

Valley fold the inner two edges of each small square over, so they lie along their respective square's middle fold-line. Press them flat and unfold them.   Mountain fold the four corners behind as shown, thereby making little triangles on the reverse side. Press the paper flat.   Open out each flap, so that its edges meet in the middle, as shown in the next step.
