Matthiola has more than 50 species. Matthiola is named in honor of Peter Matthioli, a well known Italian botanist and doctor of the sixteenth century. Matthiola bicornis is probably most known for its delightful fragrances released on summer nights. Other common names are ‘Night-Scented Stock’ or ‘Evening-Scented Stock’. A joy to behold! This is the true old-fashioned delicate flower, merited to be depicted in paper. Pink, white, mauve or purple floral stars will be looking well in oribana-arrangements when added to large individual showy blooms. Also paper flowers of Matthiola bicornis will be good in origami bouquets with cheerful floral mixtures.
