Renewed Oriland.com!
We are glad to introduce the renewed Oriland.com site to you that is now fast, efficient and fresh-looking! The general design of the site remains the same but a lot of work went into new codes and developing new great features.

Brand New Oriland Gallery
Oriland Gallery with a detailed structure now contains more than 800 origami designs by Yuri and Katrin Shumakov, presented in 12 Gallery Halls with their thematic Collections.

In Halls, you may explore each collection of designs either clicking on a collection logo, which will open a pop-up window with all the designs, or clicking on a collection name, which will lead you into Collection Page. For instance, check Decorations Hall out!

On Collection Page, you may see all the designs included into it and clicking on an image or name of a design will lead you into Design Page. See a collection example here.

And here we come to Design Page that includes Design’s image, info, where it’s published and displayed. Check it out on an example of one of Oriland Magic Stars!

It was a huge task to arrange all this adding 800+ designs and we have much more designs on the way, so will add them in future. Hope you will enjoy browsing Oriland Gallery and find designs you are looking for!

Design Search
Presenting a new feature of Oriland website – Design Search! It’s available from any page of the site. Just type a word in a search box at the upper right, press enter and voila! Here is an example search for a “Flower” with 154 related designs found. Check it out!

Oriland Kingdoms
Now Oriland Kingdoms are presented as colourful slide-shows with many photos from Oriland exhibitions. Just click on a kingdom logo to see its slide-show. You also may click on an image in a slide-show to see it large in a lightbox to enjoy all the details of the origami fantasy world. Have a great journey in Oriland Kingdoms!

Oriland Store Update
Oriland Store presents its 2 main sections – Oriland Origami eBooks and Oriland Origami Collections!

Oriland Origami eBooks are available in electronic format (PDF) to use on your computer. There are 22 eBooks filled with festive origami designs from Oriland to choose from. Check out a refreshed design of eBook pages with larger images on an example of Oriland Balloon Ride eBook!

Oriland Origami Collections are available as downloads or CDs. and cover various themes from Sailing Ships to flowers and more. There are 8 wonderful collections to choose from!
There is a new layout of Collection Page with new useful features. Now clicking on a section image you may see it large in a pop-up window.
And exploring collection’s contents is much easier now too – clicking on a theme image will open a pop-up window with all the designs, or clicking on a theme name will lead you into a specific contents page.

Fold funny origami Toy Eggs for Easter!
There are small Toy Eggs and the Large Toy Eggs a la Fabergé, designed and folded by Katrin and Yuri Shumakov.

So you can see all 48 chiyogami favours in this Oriland Magic Star! This mosaic of images shows the different views of only one model and we may say it’s many faces of the Chiyo Magic Star! :-)

You may see the Chiyo Magic Star in 3D also! 
It is a stereo pair for crossing method of viewing and to see stereo here: look directly at the stereo pair, slightly de-focus and smoothly cross your eyes without any tension (your right eye sees the left image and vice versa) keep crossing very relaxingly and you will see 3 pics with the stable 3-D image in the middle… If you cannot see in stereo… well, then just enjoy the pics :-)

And even better, watch this Chiyo Magic Star in action! :-) … and get mesmerized by the effect of changing Chiyogami patterns and colours!

The mesmerizing music in this video is by Julian Ray Music

For this particular star we have used 5 1/2-inch (14 cm) squares of Chiyogami, and the finished star is measuring about 7 inches (17 cm) in diameter. The model is quite robust and is a total fun to play with – enjoy!

The fascinating Chiyogami papers for this star were graciously presented by our friends form The Japanese Paper Place, here in Toronto. Susan Baxley was the first one to share her first Oriland Magic Stars with us. She said: “It’s official now, I have folded with my own hands, and experience first hand, the magic of ORILAND Magic Star origami model. It is one fantastic model, and now I am addicted! It is quite challenging to fold, but the reward…. aaahhhh… so AMAZING!! :))”
Congratulations to Susan for wonderful folding!

Stephen Jeppson, an avid Oriland Magic Star fan, posted an interesting article on his blog with photos and videos about his experiences with Oriland Magic Stars, where he talks about and shows 7 different Magic Stars he did so far! 

From the regular size to really big one, 24 inches in diameter (pictured below)! What a great work he did! He also shared his takes on Yin-Yang stars – good thinking and folding, Stephen – congratulations!

The Magic Star parade continues! We’d like to share some of Oriland Magic Stars folded by Chris Hughes, in action! Chris has mastered the star folding and made several Magic Stars, including a really miniature one! He shared a few videos of them – just look at his finished magic stars – great folds and smooth rotation! Congrats to Chris for wonderful folding and nice demonstration!
